I get asked all the time, “How did you get into newborn photography?”

It all started with a picture of my own baby girl.
A little over 5 years ago, I had my daughter. I knew I wanted newborn photos so I hired an old friend from Krissi Nicole Photography to do them. I was in awe of the amount of time, patience, and props she brought to my newborn session. Watching her pose my daughter brought tears to my eyes as I realized this was a new first, her first photo shoot. There were more tears when I saw the finished photos, as I could remember her early days forever.

I have the best job ever.
I realized that I wanted to learn everything I could about newborn photography, and the couple of college photography courses would not suffice. I watched many online classes, attended workshops, and did 1-on-1 mentorships to learn all that I could.I didn’t start photographing newborns until over a year later, when I knew I could handle and pose these precious babies safely. I have now been a full-time photographer for 4 years now and just moved into my brand new studio that is built for primarily maternity, newborn and portrait sessions.
Now, I aim to “pay it forward” with my clients to give them an experience like my photographer did for me. My goal with each and every session is to make my clients fall in love with their photos and cherish these memories like I did with my own daughter’s newborn session.
Seeing the reactions on parents’ faces when they see their baby’s photos is priceless. I really have the best “job” ever.
